Kia + Mike had been each others crushes through school, but neither ever acted on it until one day, finally, Mike sent Kia a Snapchat asking her out. She responded in the affirmative, but he was too nervous to look at her response so a few hours later Kia finally texted Mike and told her she had said yes!
A few years later, Mike + Kia’s families had still never met so they planned to all meet at Black Ankle Vineyard, a vineyard close to where the couple grew up. Everyone but Kia was in on the real purpose of the meeting (Kia’s sister had even flown in for the proposal!).
So an hour after everyone had met and were drinking their wine (and anxiously waiting for Mike to pop the question) he decided it was time, and asked Kia if she wanted to take a picture together in front of the vines.
Cue my entrance, where I –as per Mike’s instructions– acted like I worked for the vineyard and was just taking photos for their website. I asked the couple to turn around so we could take a shot of them facing the vines (again as per Mike’s clever instructions). After we finally got Kia to turn around, Mike got down on one knee and told Kia to turn around.
Once Kia turned around she was totally shocked to see Mike on one knee. Whatever Mike may have said, neither one could tell you as they both were too nervous and excited to remember it…but whatever he said, it did the trick and she said yes!
Congrats Kia + Mike!
Mike + his Naval Academy ring needs to move on
over because Kia’s ring is 😍
One of my favorite parts of Kia + Mikes shoot was that Mike kept wanting photos of just Kia by herself. I mean, how sweet is that 😍
(you picked a good one, Kia!)
+ i got to play with my tilt shift lens for the first time which was super fun👏
After a great shoot in the vines, we made our way back down to the patio area where Kia + Mikes families were waiting and we got one last shot with everyone AND confetti!! Whoop whoop!
(Click here to buy the biodegradable confetti I use)
