A couple weeks ago, my family and I made the drive up to the New York side of Lake Champlain. We had never been up there before, and were all totally stoked to see somewhere new. The first night we made it to Mirror Lake in NY, before continuing on the next day to Lake Champlain, and meet up with our friends! This area of NY is gorgeous, and it’s so hard to believe you’re only 2 hours from Canada, and four hours from NY city. I didn’t take many photos while there, I wanted to experience the trip and not worry so much over taking photos. Although, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I shared more on my story during the week.
So we went up to LC to stay with our midshipmen’s family during their annual trip! Back story: we live in Annapolis, Maryland and Annapolis is home to the Naval Academy. The plebes (or freshman), are all rationed out to ‘host families’ who live locally. Our mid and his family have turned into such close friends, and I literally visit them by myself (without our mid, and without my family) from time to time, because they’re so amazing. Plus they live in Asheville, NC which is on my list of top 5 favorite places to be.
Look how gorgeous! This is mirror lake in NY. Lake Champlain looks similar, but the other side of the lake is further out, and instead of staring at NY, you’re staring at Vermont!
We were there the week of 4th of July, and I and our mids mom and brother had all signed up to sign a 6.5k on the 4th. The only 6.5k in the country might I add. (Sorry for the iPhone quality)
We also hopped on the ferry to head over to Vermont a couple times, and Vermont is sooo beautiful. We visited Burlington, which is the cutest college town. They also have an Earthbound Trading Co. which is my FAVORITE store of all time. I can’t justify spending more than $15 on clothes, except at Earthbound.
I’m totally in love with this part of NY and Vermont, and cannot wait to go back (hopefully next year!).
