If you saw my engagement post about Leah + Ian, then you know a little of the backstory, if not check it out here before continuing!
Leah + Ian are one of the sweetest and most relaxed couples and it was such a pleasure to capture their wedding day! These two wanted a quiet and intimate elopement, and that is what they got! The morning of the wedding day, I showed up to the CUTEST apartment to take some getting ready and detail shots, and see that Leah invited her sister! At first, nobody from either of their families was coming to the elopement, because they had no idea it was happening, but Leah invited her sister last minute, and it was so much fun to for them to have a family member there!
Leah did her own hair and makeup, and bought her beautiful dress from Anthropologie. Even though the majority of their families weren’t there with them, they were not absent; Ian used the sleeve of his dad’s wedding shirt to make a pocket square to put in his jacket pocket just for the wedding day! It was such a special day, heading to the courthouse laughing as we all were packed into Ian’s car. We made it downtown, parked and headed to the courthouse to get Leah + Ian a time slot to get married! There are no appointments at the courthouse, so you just show up and hope you can get married quickly. We all waited about 10 minutes before someone came down to marry the lovebirds. There were happy tears from everyone involved, and after getting some portraits in the courthouse, and around town, we headed to brunch at Iron Rooster for celebratory champagne + pop-tarts!
Congratulations Leah + Ian!
Side note- There was an inside joke we all went along with that Ian was ‘reverse Amish’ because he grew out his beard after they got engaged, but was planning to shave it before the wedding, which is the complete opposite of the Amish tradition, to only grow your beard after you’re married. So, Ian asked if we could take some funny photos of him pretending to be asleep while Leah pretended to shave off his beard! It was hysterical, and I’m going to miss theses two!
